This book is pure bueaty even the subject matter is one of grief, I believe that anyone who has lost a dear one will receive great comfort from this book. It explains all the emotions that a person goes through when an loved has an illness then dies. The writing is pure and full of imagery and light. I finished it wilh hope for my own demise and what is there after!Read carefully and slowly and saviour it - keep it to reread again and again.

Mark Doty's writing is like not -stop poetry - every page is so beautifully written.Doty's account of his partner's death from Aids touched me deeply . If you have lost someone you loved ...parent , partner ...child ...this book feels like an acknowledgement of all that you felt and still feel. I read it late into the night , and of course the tears came , but Doty feels like a friend and gives hope too . Poignant and touching , but Doty's partner Wally is not portrayed as an idealised saint by any means .Take your time with this book - read it slowly , and savour the beautiful language.
